Invisible Pollution, Real Consequences

Making the invisible visible with a thermographic camera

To see actual footage from Andrew’s camera, watch this episode in video at 350 Colorado YouTube link below.

This episode features Andrew Klooster – an oil and gas pollution imaging expert and Earthworks field organizer. Andrew is a certified thermographer, with an optical gas imaging camera that can see pollution that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Malfunctions of equipment often cause massive pollution, but what people don’t realize is that routine operations and maintenance also pollute - it is the nature of the industry, and pollution occurs at all stages of drilling, fracking, extracting, processing, and transporting fracked oil and gas. Bobbie Mooney and Heidi Leathwood of 350 Colorado interview Andrew about what he has found in his work and how agencies and operators react to his findings.

Andrew has made countless videos of pollution at oil and gas sites across multiple states, including Colorado. You can see more of Andrew’s pollution videos on @Earthworks YouTube channel! Sign up for future updates about Earthworks’ work in Colorado using this link.
