The conversation came about during our longer conversation about fracking, released on “What the Frack?!” as podcast episode #1, “Health Risks of Living Near Fracking.” Dr. Lisa McKenzie is a Colorado-based scientist who has been studying the health risks of living near fracking since 2009.
Dr. McKenzie talks about several types of studies here, including the rigorous design of her most recent study, which shows that there is an increased risk of childhood leukemia even up to 8 miles away from medium intensity oil and gas activity.
